COMMANDING OFFICER

Lieutenant(N) Andrew Townley, CD

Lt(N) Townley started his cadet career in 1980 with the newly formed RC(Sea)CC Ojibwa at the age of 15, by the time he aged out he had been the Coxswain for 3 years. He had gone to HMCS Acadia in 1980 for GT, Camp Tillicum in 81 for the Junior Leadership course, and in 1982 HMCS Quadra for Practical Leadership course. He returned to HMCS Quadra for staff in 83.


After aging out of cadets, he remained with Ojibwa starting as a Civilian instructor and rising to A/Slt filling several positions including Supply Officer. He then transferred to RC(Sea)CC Illustrious as Training and Gunnery Officer rising to the rank of Lt(N), after a few years with Illustrious, he then transferred to RC(Sea)CC Ontario.

Lt(N) Townley was XO of Ontario for a few more years then went onto the supplementary reserve for 6 years.

Coming back to Ojibwa he was XO, becoming CO in 2001 for five years, and staff in HMCS Ontario in 2000. Returning to the re-opened Illustrious to take command as of the 18th of April 2007 for four years. He became CO of Iron Duke 9th September 2014 for three years. He became CO of Crescent on 13 November 2017 for three years. Lt(N) Townley assumed command of RCSCC Chaudière on 1 December 2021. In civilian life he has worked at Bell Media as a master control operator for the last 35 years and enjoys riding his motorcycle
