Mr. Don D'Souza
Vice-President - Navy League of Canada Milton Branch
Don D’Souza joined the Navy League of Canada Milton Branch as a volunteer in 2010. His passion and dedication led him to be appointed as President of the Navy League of Canada Milton Branch in 2014; the role which he continues to work in today. Don is constantly working towards creating community partnerships and is passionate about supporting and giving back to his local community.
For the past 10 years, Don has been a strong advocate for RCSCC CHAUDIERE, making great efforts to brand and position the Milton Sea Cadets within the community of Milton. These efforts include social media campaigns, community partnerships and community service. These partnerships, with community members and local businesses, have fostered support, facilitated generous donations, and provided community service opportunities.
Don’s 10 years of dedication comprises his persistent work with the Town of Milton and its Councilors, local MP, MPP, and the Halton Regional Police Services. Through participating in events like the Milton Community Clean-up Day, Halton Regional Police Day, and many more, these partnerships have helped the Milton Sea Cadets become a shining example of citizenship in the community.
Don has been an active member with The Royal Canadian Legion Milton Branch, for several years. He has shown his support to the Veterans in the community by helping them with the Annual Poppy Campaign and he plans to participate in more events in the upcoming years.
In addition to giving his time to the Navy League Milton Branch, Don has been actively involved with the Halton Regional Police services, as a COPP Volunteer for over 10 years. Subsequently, he has also been volunteering with the “Life Matters” campaign, which assists the community in connecting with youth in crisis, especially offering support, education, and awareness in areas of mental health and wellness. He has also actively volunteered at local food drives at both the Milton, Georgetown, and Acton Food Banks. Additionally, Don has demonstrated great leadership strength by successfully running both the “Toys for Tots” and “Treasures for Teens” gift Drives, for the past 8 years.
In January 2020, Don co-founded the Navy League Cadet Corps ADVENTURE, under the Navy League Milton Branch, and skillfully recruited new members and guided the Milton branch through the challenges of opening another youth program. Since then, Don has been appointed as Vice-President Navy League Cadets – Ontario Division, responsible for the development and progress of 33 cadet unit and branches across the province.
In appreciation of his dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the Halton Regional Police Services; Don was awarded the “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2016 and 2019, as well as the “Service Award” in 2018. In 2020, he has been awarded the Navy League of Canada Long Service Medal and Certificates of Recognition for Community Service from the town of Milton, MPP Parm Gill and MP Adam van Koeverden.
When not taking part in his volunteer services, Don works a full-time job, is a devoted husband, and is the proud father of two lovely girls. He enjoys photography and is a passionate coin and stamp collector.
