EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Lieutenant(N) Monika Hannon, CD

Lt(N) Monika Hannon was born in Toronto and currently resides with her husband David, daughter Rachel and son Rhyse in Milton, Ontario. In October 1988 Lt(N) Hannon enrolled as a New Entry Cadet with R.C.S.C.C #304 Chaudière.

 

Throughout her seven year Cadet career, she accomplished Chief Petty Officer First Class and was appointed the Coxswain’s position, obtained Drum Major status with the Milton Tri Service Band, successfully completed the Boatswain and Practical Leadership courses and attained several awards and medals including the Legion Medal of Excellence. After graduating from the Cadet program and attended College in Thunder Bay, she returned to Chaudière in 1997 as a Cadet Instructor Cadre. 

 

Lt(N) Hannon has held several positions within the Corp including the Gunnery Trade and Deck Officer, Training Officer, Supply Officer and the Executive Officer.  Throughout that time she progressed through the ranks and was promoted to her current rank Lt(N) in June 2002. On 1st June 2005, and again currently 2 Dec 2015 Lt(N) Hannon affirmed the position of Commanding Officer.

Lt(N) Hannon has attained several certifications including Air Rifle Range Safety Officer, Orienteering Instructor, and Canoe Trip Leader.  Her qualifications include Standard and Emergency First Aid, Unit Human Rights Advisor and facilitator, Defensive Driving, SCOP level 1, 2, and 4, and VHF Radio Operations.

 

Over the years as a CIC Officer she has attended several Cadet Summer Training Centers.  In Borden, she held Barrack and Camp Security positions. Then attended HMCS Ontario for the next four summers as the Gunnery Trade Group One Training Officer, Operations Officer, General Training 2IC and Adventure Training Officer, the 1st Lieutenant’s position and then Senior Canoe Instructor. She was then employed in Blackdown in 2005, as an assistant Lifeguard and Canoe Trip Leader.  She returned to HMCS Ontario as the Senior Canoe Instructor and in 2007 she was a Canoe Trip Leader at Whitehorse Cadet Summer Training Center in the Yukon. Lt(N) Hannon returned in 2008, as the Watermanship Coordinator and has proudly been the Operation Officer for the Annual Seamanship Concentration in British Columbia; every March break from 2004 through 2007. 

 

6 June 2009 she was married to her wonderful husband and the two years following had their two beautiful children.

 Lt(N) Hannon is dedicated to the interests and educational development of Chaudière Cadets; establishing better Canadian Citizens, and having fun learning about the Sea Element of the Armed Forces.
